Ship in a Bottle

First play with a magazine set of stamps, never been used until now, put to one side for well over a year then realised they would be perfect for a masculine card I wanted to make!  Nautical theme with a stencilled background and nautical knot.

On a panel of white card I used some paper masking techniques to stamp the tall sailing ship inside the bottle then brushed distress ink over a scallop corner stencil to create faux waves.  Next the shoal of little fish, whale, starfish and sentiment were stamped.  All images coloured with a mix of cheap metallic/ordinary colouring pencils.

I've added a flat nautical knot to one corner as I remembered seeing this YouTube video by Christine Stokes which she posted last year on how to make one.  I was surprised, it was so easy to do!  Had to then research what the knot was called and it's a carrick bend knot also known as the sailor's breastplate.  Finishing touches drew some bubbles and tangled a design on the bottle label with a black fine liner pen.

I've used - 13.5 cm sq white card base
Stamps from Issue 95 Creative Stamping Mag Lisa Horton Crafts
Funky Fossil stencil scallop corner
Distress Ink tumbled glass; Green & white bakers twine
Chiltern Arts Metallic/Studio Pencils
