Let's Party! Meerkats #2

Image
I'm still a relative youngster in blogland compared to some of you but yesterday was my blog's 3rd anniversary!  I'm celebrating with an interactive make made for my OH's birthday - a gatefold shutter card using more of the meerkat stamps from my new Hobby Art set.  My first meerkat card you can see  here . I came across shutter opening style cards on Pinterest and found a template I could understand and make work for me  here .  Made a mock up of one first to see how it all fitted together then decided to go bigger ending up with a 6"x 6" card.  I've listed my measurements just in case I put them somewhere very safe never to be found again! Chocolate brown card base pieces - 12" x 6" - scored at 3" & 9" to create a gatefold. 9" x 4" strip - scored at 1cm on each short side - place a square die in the middle like a diamond & die cut to end up with two fishtail banner shapes for the shutter mechanism. 6" x 4"

Postage Frame Christmas Deer Family

As January's  CAS Christmas Card  challenge theme was 'silhouette' this prompted me to use a die cut deer family in an icy postage frame setting I've blended two shades of blue distress inks inside a large postage frame stencil straight onto the front of my card blank.  Decided to stamp around the edges with my favourite snowflake stamp using hickory smoke distress oxide and adhered the deer family standing on top of some stamped icy swirls. The smaller frame above is similarly inked, stamped with part of the snowflake, a circular sentiment and drawn wavy lines to represent a postage mark. Some finishing touches here & there with a silver gelly roll pen First time ever I've made a start on this year's Christmas cards so early! I've used -  13.5 cm sq white card blank Funky Fossil Postage Frame stencil DIs tumbled glass, stormy sky Gifted deer die cut Hot off the Press Enchanted Christmas stamp set Tonic sentiment stamp DO hickory smoke Linking up with -

Let's Party! Meerkat 60th

First post of 2021 ... please stay safe everyone.  I've wanted these Hobby Art Meerkat stamps for ages and finally treated myself to the set at the end of last year ... I think most of my male birthdays will feature them for a while.  First outing for this party card for my brother who is celebrating a big birthday, well as much as you can during lockdown 3! I started by sponging two colours of distress inks onto the background for ground and sky leaving some whitish areas as clouds.  The banner stencil came next using distress oxides then I added some stitched details with white & black pens.  Trees stamped on the horizon water coloured with DO and a few stamped grasses closer to the foreground. The three happy Meerkats are coloured with Promarkers, fussy cut, shaped and adhered with silicone gel plus glossy accents on the eyes.  Gave two of them some party accessories to hold and of course the number 60 with some holographic EP for a bit of sparkle.  Left just enough room for
