Alphabet Birthday Card

Image
Needed a way to use up some little scraps of core'dinations coloured card so came up with this after seeing something similar on Pinterest.  Quite like the look of random fonts together to make up each word.  Still loads more scraps left so will likely make more and vary the words on different backgrounds. The alphas were die cut in white, adhered to the coloured card then hand cut with random edges.  Background was lightly inked with hickory smoke distress oxide through a plaid stencil then I decided to rotate the stencil and ink again with cracked pistachio for a little more colour and design.  Colourful die cut circles from the same card to embellish which are softer for mailing than enamel dots as they won't pierce through the envelope.  Panel mounted onto a darker matt layer.        I've used - 13 cm sq white card base Core'dinations cardstock Funky Fossil Ransom Note Alpha die set Funky Fossil Plaid stencil Distress Oxide inks Linking up with -  Snippets Playgroun

This was a quick make with patterned papers and die cuts with a punny sentiment as a nod to the lightbulb. The Neutrals paper pad from Funky Fossil is great for masculine cards/backgrounds - they have a lovely mix of chalkboard, kraft and whitewash finish.  I used dark grey mirror card for the die cuts and paper pieced the bulb.  Couldn't resist adding a punny sentiment with individual alphas instead of the usual birthday greeting. Hap-pea Birthday!

Image
Family birthdays in early January come round so soon after Christmas and some years I'm not that prepared!  This fun make uses a Hap-pea stamp by Zinski Art for Funky Fossil which came as a free gift with a recent order. Images coloured with promarkers and paired with a film strip die.  One of the peas cut out and added on his own, arms and legs drawn with a black fine liner pen just to give him a bit more character.  My inky background was a trial run using my new gelli plate with inks, water & a stencil - will definitely be experimenting a lot more. Sentiment white heat embossed on some orange cardstock to match the matt layer.  A few clear enamel dots to embellish.  Can't help thinking the pea pod could be a pair of lips if they were coloured red/pink!  Now that would make an interesting card! I've used - 6x6" white card base Funky Fossil stamp - Hap-pea by Zinski Art Funky Fossil die - Film Strip Funky Fossil stencil - Herringbone Funky Fossil enamel dots Vers

I'm starting the New Year off with another slimline card.  I was lucky enough to win a matching stamp and die set from Julie Hickey Designs in one of her draws at the end of last year, this is my first play with them. I've used white pearlescent card for all the elements as I like the subtle sheen it gives.  On a stitched rectangle panel I blended three colours of distress oxide inks using wilted violet, shaded lilac and squeezed lemonade.  The large twin flower stamp was stamped and die cut.  I decided to leave the petals and leaf cut outs in the design as I liked the look once added to the inked panel rather than leave the design open.  Sentiment tag stamped, fussy cut and added with foam pads.  The row of three hearts were stamped top and bottom to draw your eye diagonally across the card.
