Guest Designer for Try it on Tuesday
Sharing my guest designer card for Try it on Tuesday's current challenge 'Sing a Song' theme - a favourite song or a song that inspires you. I chose the last verse of Bette Midler's song Wind Beneath My Wings: 'Fly, fly, fly high against the sky - So high I almost touch the sky - Thank you, thank you - Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings'.
Something else that inspired this card was a photograph I came across on Instagram of a Black Jacobin hummingbird's rainbow wings. When the sun strikes its open wings it causes a beautiful prism effect, a diffraction of light. If you get a chance do look this up, nature is amazing. No hummingbird's in my stash sadly so chose this bird in flight instead.
Started by creating a cloud background by brushing two blue inks pads over a stencil created from an edges die that has a scalloped design. Next came a rooftop stencil at the bottom inked with hickory smoke distress oxide. Drew my own tangles on top with a black fine liner pen and gold gel pen highlights. Panel edged with dark blue ink.
I had on my desk Wings of Beauty II stamp set by Mo's Ark UK for Funky Fossil so chose this bird in flight which has lovely doodled details and stamped onto vellum then fussy cut. The wings were coloured with polychromo pencils and the body with Perga Color pens, then on the reverse with a ball tool some areas were whitened. Die cut circle of vellum for the sun coloured with a promarker.. Vellum pieces attached with micro dots. Sentiment added from the stamp set. Finished card 6"x 5¼".
I've used - Craft UK white card
Funky Fossil stamp set - Wings of Beauty II
Funky Fossil stencil - Rooftops
Funky Fossil die - Edges
Inks - tumbled glass DI, stonewashed Adirondack, hickory smoke DO
Colouring pens & pencils
