Festive Silhouette Deer Scene

First Christmas make of the year an inky deer scene with stencilled full moon.  A tad difficult to photograph - the true colours are actually blue/grey and lilac.  A few mistakes along the way which I'll own up to below!


All inked and stamped directly onto the white card base.  I started with the two part moon stencil inking through the circle first then through the detail moon part with a mix of blue and lilac inks.  Dusted over with some mica pigment powers for a bit of subtle shine.  The silhouette deer were stamped in black ink and the ground inked with lilac using torn paper masks.  Next time I create something similar I will leave the deer stamping to last as the black ink was not totally dry so they are no longer as sharp as I would like.


Noel sentiment was die cut with alphas from patterned paper and adhered in a curve inside the moon.  For some reason I forgot that the ascender part of the 'l' should be higher up, there was no way back once stuck down!  With a torn edge die I created some thin strips of patterned paper to edge the card base.  Finished with some silver sparkle enamel dots and stickles on the ground.  Rounded off all four corners with a corner punch.

    You are on the ball. Gorgeous festive make - like Carol says its only the creator that sees the 'mistakes' , im yet to make anything without a mistake but that keeps me wanting to improve for next time. Mind you having to come up with a way to disguising mistakes has led me to come up with ideas i loved and use more often. Emmax

So lovely to be invited by Ellie from Simply Ellibelle's blog as guest designer for challenge 14 of " I spy with my little eye.... something with wings " selected by Pauline.  A fabulous theme with so many possibilities ... I chose to ink up this wonderful large scale owl with draft lines and geometric styling and created a spotlight die-cutting technique. Owl stamped and heat embossed with clear EP then die cut part of the image into a circle.  To make the background, two different distress inks (one green, one blue) were smooched onto the remaining panel.  I did some light stencilling in areas, blue ink for the hex matrix pattern, white ink for the circles with iridescent mica pigment powder so they catch the light.  Finally some over stamping in smoke blue ink (which looks more light grey) for the doodle patterns and additional words (spread your wings, soar, fly).  Die cut circle has another layer underneath so it's slightly raised and left uncoloured.  Die cut &a

Chatty Bar

The Chatty Bar stamp set designed by Zinski Art was perfect for a fun drink themed card I needed.  Look at their expressive faces!  Images combined with a geometric embossed background and witty sentiment. Background created by applying blue/green ink to a geometric stencil, spritzed with water, placed onto ochre coloured cardstock and embossed through my die-cutting machine to create the embossed pattern with ink transferred like a faux letterpress effect.  Added some pieces of black/gold geo-patterned papers for interest and to ground the images.  Stamped and clear heat embossed images coloured with a mix of watercolour paints, alcohol markers and coloured pencils before fussy cutting and adhering.  Sentiment stamped and white heat embossed on a scrap of patterned paper cut into strips. Let it Snow

Crafting has been a bit hit and miss for me of late as family life has just got in the way but at last a Christmas card made for two challenges, a late entry for  September's CAS Mix Up  and a new colour challenge that has caught my interest called  Color Hues . I masked off a panel on the front of my card base and blended a mix of blue inks to create an ombre effect from turquoise to navy with a few splatters of water to add interest and lift some of the ink.  I've not embossed with dies very much so had to hunt where I had written down the sandwich for my Big Shot!  I'd forgotten how little pressure was needed to get a lovely embossed impression.  I chose a few snowflake dies and positioned them partly on/off my inked panel to widen the overall design then stamped the gorgeous sentiment at the bottom (I do love this flowing font) and a few falling little snowflakes all in navy blue.
