All Geared up ...

This month  CAS Mix Up  is celebrating it's 5th Birthday.  I was really pleased when I discovered this group of challenges some two years ago now as I wanted to be inspired to improve on my clean and simple makes and the DT have certainly done just that with so many different techniques to try along the way too! The gears were die cut from watercolour card, sprinkled with black, dark brown & lemon brushos then spritzed with water.  Whilst still wet they were flipped over and pressed onto my card panel.  Water colouring is still my least favourite technique and I had a right mishmash of undefined print/colour in the centre but luckily more success on the edges.  I used far too much water I think. Decided on a deconstructed clock face centrepiece with a group of small gold embossed cogs/gears and a separate outer ring.  The watercoloured die cut gears were heat embossed with holographic EP to allow the colours to show through with some added sparkle in contrast to the muted print

Funky Florals

Sharing a stamped card with gold heat embossing using a newly purchased stamp set by Funky Fossil.  Colours inspired by a photo I came across of some Indian fabric. The stamp set called Funky Florals includes lots of individual floral elements and one larger cluster.  The larger cluster was stamped and heat embossed on my panel then coloured with promarkers.  To give more depth three separate elements (two leaves and a flower) were fussy cut, shaped and adhered on top with silicone.  On a strip of vellum, coloured on the reverse with a blue promarker, the Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped and gold embossed too. Added a simple stencilled pattern at the bottom.  The blue matt layer echoes the same blue in some of the leaves.  Placed a few die cut gold dots as finishing touches. I've used -  7x5" white card base Neenah ultra-smooth solar white card Funky Fossil - Funky Florals & Happy Words stamp sets Detail gold EP; Promarkers Funky Fossil - Watercolour Lines stencil tumb

Football Meerkat Spinner

Sharing a fun football spinner card featuring those Hobby Art Meerkat Madness stamps again. One of the larger Meerkats was stamped/embossed first then covered with a post it note mask before sponging and blending four distress oxide inks over the panel.  To create more interest in the background I used a word stencil next with the same DO's for a tone on tone look finally adding Versamark ink and clear EP for a bit of shine. It was easy to hand draw on the football kit to customise the Meerkat, simply coloured with Promarkers leaving some thin white stripes on the edges.  The slider aperture was cut horizontally across with the cut out reinserted onto the base card to make the Meerkat whole again!  Stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment around the card base edge before adding my finished panel on top with foam strips complete with football spinner in the aperture. I wanted to have two Meerkats either side of the football spinner as though they were heading the ball back and forth so I
