Alphabet Birthday Card

Needed a way to use up some little scraps of core'dinations coloured card so came up with this after seeing something similar on Pinterest.  Quite like the look of random fonts together to make up each word.  Still loads more scraps left so will likely make more and vary the words on different backgrounds.


The alphas were die cut in white, adhered to the coloured card then hand cut with random edges.  Background was lightly inked with hickory smoke distress oxide through a plaid stencil then I decided to rotate the stencil and ink again with cracked pistachio for a little more colour and design.  Colourful die cut circles from the same card to embellish which are softer for mailing than enamel dots as they won't pierce through the envelope.  Panel mounted onto a darker matt layer.

    OH MY WORD! What a clever card this is Steph - you must have the patience of a Saint - it's stunning. I don't even have that many different font alphabet dies to mix for the Happy Birthday!

Made my own mixed media background panel for this birthday cake card with inks, stencils, stamps, glitter paste, stencil butter and embossing powder.  You might have to zoom in to see the sparkle and shine.  A favourite three tier cake with chocolate sprinkles ... yum! For the background I started by blending two DO inks onto white cardstock.  Repeatedly placed the mandala stencil on top, spritzed with water and dabbed off with paper towel to create a faux bleach effect.  Glitter paste and stencil butter was applied through parts of the seed head stencil.  Embossing powder was sprinkled over the top of the stencil butter and heated once dry.  Random stamping with various inks. Musical Crossword ... Paper Players #387 Musical Challenge

Set myself an additional challenge this week to combine a crossword stamp into the current  Paper Players #387 Musical Challenge  ... easy really just write the names of some instruments into the squares!  I also wanted to try the Retiform (grid) inking technique again and this is the end result. The crossword stamp was inked and embossed first before sponging distress ink along the edges of my paper masks to create several shaped areas into which I stamped musical instruments and notes using grey and black inks.  Finished off with an apt "Just a note to say ... " sentiment. Have A Tweet Day

Occasionally I pop into one of my local charity shops as they often have some craft items donated, found a grey rubber stamp set for £1 with images that would compliment my stash so just had to be bought.  The stack of books and swirls are from that set which I've paired with some Funky Fossil items. Started with a piece of designer paper for a ready made background.  I love the sun peeking above the rolling hills in this magical mysterious place ideal to place a focal image in the foreground.  Stack of books and the fun quirky bird stamped, fussy cut and coloured with a mixture of watercolour paints and colouring pencils.  Swirls and sentiment stamped and white heat embossed on the background.  Bird's legs stamped on the background and feet on the top book before adhering the focal images with 1mm foam pads.                    I've used - 120x170mm white card base to fit a B6 envelope Funky Fossil Dreamscapes paper pad Funky Fossil The Tweets stamp set Sheena Douglass A Li
