Color Hues Guest Designer

Very excited to share my guest designer card for the new challenge at Color Hues with a lovely soft palette of cream and blue.  You can see my winning card here.  I was aiming for a cream and blue ceramic look.  I wonder who has left their boots behind in the garden? Hope their kite stays flying long enough for them to return ...

Having bought some new Card-io stamp sets at a local craft fair recently I was keen to create with them alongside other sets I already had.  Made a cream background on my Gelli plate with acrylic paint keeping some white areas for interest.  Stamped all the separate images in blue ink using a stamping platform for either a lighter or darker hue.  Stamped and heat embossed a few white clouds in the sky.  Bushed in some added blue lines for contrast.

The central part of the scene was cut out with a decagon (10 sided) die, used a neutral matt layer behind before matching it back up over the panel.  Final panel finished with another neutral layer.  White bows on the kite string are small triangle die cuts from my stash.  Couldn't resist adding a single die cut white bird up in the sky flying high just like the kite.  White embossed a small 'happy days' sentiment onto vellum and tucked along one side of the decagon.

Why don't you pop along and see what the Color Hues DT have created in cream & blue ... and join in.

I've used - 6x6" white card base
Card-io stamp sets: High Flyers (kite/clouds), Winter Stroll (boots/leaves),
Field Florals (tall flowers), Textures (bricks/ground florals),
Oriental Blossom (butterfly)
docrafts Artiste linen acrylic paint
VersaColor inks - sky blue, lapislazuli

  1. You've created a wonderful kite-flying scene with blue and cream. The gelli plate background, shades of blue, hexagon framing and the sweet little bows on the kite string make for an eye-catching combination. Thrilled to have you as our guest designer for this challenge.
