Sanntangle With Love

Image
It's rare I craft with kits but when I saw the Papercraft Society's May box was designed by Sandra Rushton from Sanntangle I knew had to buy it.  This card features paper weaving, stamping, heat embossing, stencilling to map out the border, tangling, colouring pencils and a bit of parchment work too.  Made for my mum's birthday next month. I started with some of the papers from the kit, cutting 1cm strips to weave into a square.  The random edges were cut with a torn edge die from my stash.  Stamped and gold heat embossed onto vellum the flourish, heart and 'love' sentiment.  Flourish coloured with colouring pencils.  Tangled a grid design with a purple fine liner pen into the open centres of the heart and letters.  On the reverse dry embossed with a small parchment ball tool to whiten each square to give a quilted effect.  Decided to mount these stamped images onto white card and fussy cut to make them pop more against the woven background and so I could use some 1

Spring Garden

This card was made with Card Making Magic Spring Garden stamp set that came with issue 119 of Creative Stamping magazine.  The centre shape is a decagon (10 sided) inked through an aperture using distress oxides with some subtle stencilling and stamped with the garden table and chairs. Leafy branches, garden border and potted plant stamped around the edge of my square white panel, some of which overspill onto the main panel.  Hadn't set out to do double layer stamping but this card just developed along the way.  The centre decagon needed a lift of colour as it was quite green so I die cut it out and used a yellow matt layer behind.  Used polychromo pencils to colour the images with a few white gel pen highlights.  Main panel matted with yellow also. Took a while for me to like the finished card and I thought of a misty Spring morning looking out into the garden.  Sentiment lightly stamped so as not to stand out too much. I've used - 6x6" white card base issue 119 Creative

A little bit of Paradise

Image
I've gone for a colourful tropical vibe for this card with hibiscus flowers inside a monstera leaf featuring a toucan.  I'd love to see colourful toucans on an island paradise setting. As I didn't have an appropriate stencil in my stash I cut an aperture from my own hand drawn monstera leaf shape in paper so I could stamp the colourful hibiscus flowers inside and straight onto the front of my card base.  The outline was then drawn with a fine black liner pen to define the shape and used metallic colouring pencils to add shading.  Stamped some small flowers in green to fill some open spaces and a few green leaves at the bottom for the toucan to perch on. Toucan stamped and fussy cut, coloured with polychromo pencils and adhered with 1mm foam pads.  Sentiment stamped onto the card base. I've used - 5x7" cream card base Uniko Paradise stamp set Various ink pads; colouring pencils Linking up with -    Crafty Addicts                                        Paper Dragonfl

Ship in a Bottle

First play with a magazine set of stamps, never been used until now, put to one side for well over a year then realised they would be perfect for a masculine card I wanted to make!  Nautical theme with a stencilled background and nautical knot. On a panel of white card I used some paper masking techniques to stamp the tall sailing ship inside the bottle then brushed distress ink over a scallop corner stencil to create faux waves.  Next the shoal of little fish, whale, starfish and sentiment were stamped.  All images coloured with a mix of cheap metallic/ordinary colouring pencils. I've added a flat nautical knot to one corner as I remembered seeing this YouTube video by Christine Stokes which she posted last year on how to make one.  I was surprised, it was so easy to do!  Had to then research what the knot was called and it's a carrick bend knot also known as the sailor's breastplate.  Finishing touches drew some bubbles and tangled a design on the bottle label with a bla
