Fathers Day Garden Birds

My Dad loves his garden, feeding birds and all things nature so for this year's father's day card I used a new forest glade stencil with stamps from a British garden birds set that came with a magazine several years ago.

Distress oxide inks were brushed over the stencil to create a soft backdrop scene, I did use a circle mask too, just slipped that behind the tree branches then removed to add colour for the sun.  With the main stencil in place I added some leaves/flowers in soft grey at the top and bottom.  All the other stamps were cut out, coloured with promarkers and added on top as the main focal points.  Ripe blackberries and seed pods might not be seen just yet but I have noticed the fruits are starting to form when out walking.  I love catching a glimpse of a robin too and I'm sure once swallows have finished nesting we will see them swooping overhead.

Sentiment was computer generated using 'A Amne Sans' font and tucked in at the bottom.  Dad did love his card and Mum did too.  They had not seen a robin in their garden for some time until just last week.

I've used - 6x6" white card base
rspb British Garden Birds stamp set
Funky Fossil Forest Glade stencil
Distress Oxides - cracked pistachio, evergreen bough, mermaid lagoon, wild honey
Promarkers

  1. Gorgeous card for your dad, but suitable for any gardener, i love the scene you've created. I love watching the garden birds too, mostly at my parents though as all our seagulls tend to keep the little birds away. Emmax
