Birthday Fishes
It's been far too long since I joined in with a Just Add Ink challenge they just seem to come and go so quickly! The current colour challenge palette sparked off an under the sea idea so this is what I've created using Brusho inks to match the colours as close as I could.
I started by masking off the top & bottom of a piece of watercolour paper then using a dry brush placed tiny amounts of alternate yellow & turquoise Brusho powders along the top edge first. Lifting up the paper slightly and spritzing with water away from you lets the colours mix and run down. The bottom edge was created exactly the same but spritzed more heavily with water as I wanted a more softer look.

Added a wavy die cut element across the middle cut from another similar Brusho piece and stamped three fish with Memento nautical blue ink. Dark blue layers were added under all the die cuts for a shadow effect as well as behind the finished panel and the sentiment words were a mix from two different die sets.
I've used - A6 white card base
Unbranded wavy & "birthday" dies
First Edition modern alphabet dies "wishes"
Anita's See-D's Boys Toys fish stamp
Linking up with Just Add Ink #454..."Colour" challenge

Gorgeous card Steph. At least I can see your makes here.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the DoCrafts website will be back any time soon. I got an email from them. Apparently they have no idea how to fix the 'Error 500' message that was occurring before Easter (which is why they took the site down). I said that the site with the error was better than no site at all but they replied that so many people had complained about that error, that they couldn't risk reinstating the site 'as was' (which is what I suggested).
Ah well! Clare x
This is fabulous Steph! I love how you've used Brusho to represent the colours in your ocean and also how you've used water to give two different effects. So clever!! Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know that despite my pessimism, DC website is, in fact, back...! Clare x
