CAS Silhouette Cats
I stumbled upon a new challenge a few weeks ago that really caught my attention based on using stencils and features a new technique each month CAS Stencil Challenge and ... I also need more practice making clean and simple cards! So I planned to try out this month's theme 'Ghosting' which took several attempts to end up with something I was happy to use on a card.
My original idea started with a Turn Ahead road sign stencil and a car stamp but it just wasn't working so I 'parked' that idea and went for plan B. Just as well I did as I later spotted in the challenge gallery Robyn's DT card used those very items! Spooky, two crafters with the same idea!
But now on to my finished card ... instead of using one of my existing stencils I used a die cut stencil sheet and made my own from an intertwining circles die. The cardstock that worked best for me was Clarity's stencils matte card sponged with distress oxides, left to dry only for a short while before placing the stencil over the top and wiping away some of the ink with a baby wipe.
On my ghosted circles panel I placed black silhouette die cut cats and a sentiment die cut from the same inked piece offset with a black shadow.

Distress Oxides (wild honey & fired brick) on Clarity Stencils card
Sue Wilson Intertwining Circles die
Stix2 die cut stencil sheet
Gifted die cut cats
Dovecraft sentiment die

ReplyDeleteGorgeous stenciled ghosted panel, Steph. I loved your DOX colors that you blended for the background and die cut stencil. Your black cats in different positions really pop! Wonderful die cut sentiment from your background too. TFS and so pleased you joined us at CAS Stencil Card Challenge. Hugs..Nancy
