Uniko shapes stencil with tangles

It's been a while since I've done any tangling (doodling), was inspired to combine with Uniko's mid century modern shapes stencil for this birthday card, my take on one of Bev's card here on the Uniko Studio blog.


I chose five different distress oxide inks in tones of yellow/orange and blue/green to brush through the shapes stencil on a smooth white card panel.  Using the same stencil I drew around the inside of some of the shapes with a black fine liner pen so they overlapped and linked the coloured shapes together.  Filled in these shapes with various hand drawn tangles.  Large bold sentiment stamped in dark green, fussy cut and added with 1mm foam pads. Panel added to a 5x7" white card base.

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons, looking forward to the rich colours of the changing leaves, squirrels busy collecting fallen acorns, fungi raising their heads above ground and seeing sunflowers still in bloom.  This card was made for a September birthday. I made my own background panel (pictured below) with two distress oxide inks smooshed on it before dry embossing with a layered leaves stencil. Stencilled on top of the raised embossing with various dye inks then used the second layering stencil to just ink the tops of the acorns.  Panel matted on burgundy cardstock.  Wanted to use a recent sale purchase of an Apple Blossom die set which creates a circular shaped puzzle centrepiece and chose a sunflower patterned paper from a recent magazine along with the same burgundy cardstock for the frame.  Once paper pieced back together this was mounted on the background panel. 100 Birthday Wishes

Made for the uncle of a crafting friend celebrating his 100th birthday who still enjoys a bit of gardening.  Card Making Magic's Spring Garden stamp set that came with issue 119 of Creative Stamping seemed ideal to use and I also wanted to have lots of colour so what better than a rainbow background. Distress oxide inks were brushed over a stencil to create the abstract background then water drops flicked over to create some interest.  Gardening images stamped in brown ink directly onto the panel with masks used so the hand tools could be stamped behind the flower pots.  Images were coloured with a mixture of polychromos, metallic pencils and gel pens with added white gel pen highlights. Number 100 stamped in green ink with a bracket below again with some white gel highlights ... a topiary sculpture maybe?  White embossed sentiment on the same colour card as the matt layer. Color Hues Guest Designer

Very excited to share my guest designer card for the new challenge at  Color Hues  with a lovely soft palette of cream and blue.  You can see my winning card  here .  I was aiming for a cream and blue ceramic look.  I wonder who has left their boots behind in the garden? Hope their kite stays flying long enough for them to return ...        Having bought some new Card-io stamp sets at a local craft fair recently I was keen to create with them alongside other sets I already had.  Made a cream background on my Gelli plate with acrylic paint keeping some white areas for interest.  Stamped all the separate images in blue ink using a stamping platform for either a lighter or darker hue.  Stamped and heat embossed a few white clouds in the sky.  Bushed in some added blue lines for contrast.
