All Geared up ...

This month CAS Mix Up is celebrating it's 5th Birthday.  I was really pleased when I discovered this group of challenges some two years ago now as I wanted to be inspired to improve on my clean and simple makes and the DT have certainly done just that with so many different techniques to try along the way too!

The gears were die cut from watercolour card, sprinkled with black, dark brown & lemon brushos then spritzed with water.  Whilst still wet they were flipped over and pressed onto my card panel.  Water colouring is still my least favourite technique and I had a right mishmash of undefined print/colour in the centre but luckily more success on the edges.  I used far too much water I think.

Decided on a deconstructed clock face centrepiece with a group of small gold embossed cogs/gears and a separate outer ring.  The watercoloured die cut gears were heat embossed with holographic EP to allow the colours to show through with some added sparkle in contrast to the muted print background.  'All Geared up' part of the sentiment created with individual letter stamps.

Wasn't entirely happy how this card turned out but have to admit it has grown on me since and I have left over gears to use on another make.
I've used - 13.5 cm sq pearlescent gold card base
Bockingford watercolour paper
Clock & cogs die set from The Works
Brushos – black, dark brown, lemon
Holographic & Gold EP
Unbranded stitched circle & rectangle dies
Mag freebie individual letter stamps
Lawn Fawn Offset Sayings: Birthday stamp set

  3. A great card Steph. I think you have done a great job with the technique - the 'less crisp' print in the middle I think adds to the overall look! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! x

  5. I think you should be thrilled with this card, Steph! Your gears are so beautifully colored and the printed background is supposed to be a bit blurred! I think it all went together perfectly! Thanks so much for sharing in our birthday celebration at CAS Mix Up!
