Thinking of You

Recently I needed a sympathy card for a work colleague who sadly lost her mum so decided to take inspiration from a project by Tracey Evans in Phill Martin's stamping special magazine which used his flower/grass stencil.  This is my take on her card. I placed an oval aperture stencil on top of the flower/grass stencil and firstly sponged with distress oxides - cracked pistachio & evergreen bough for the grasses and shaded lilac for the flower heads, then applied Versamark ink and heat set with clear EP. Using milled lavender distress ink for the rest of the inky process I replaced the oval aperture and brushed ink through, removed then sponged around the edges of a paper circle to create a spotlight and a script stamp in the hand to randomly stamp to add more depth.  Finally stamped the sentiment and inked around the panel edges adding a few sequins to embellish. CAS Gesso Resist

Image
This month's  CAS Mix Up Card Challenge  is to use a gesso resist technique, again a product I did not already have until my local store recently opened up again so I was able to buy a pot and finally have a play which is why I'm just posting before the deadline. I've created an encouragement card.  Dina Wakley's media girl silhouette stamp was my starting point, she was stamped with gesso on some mixed media card hand cut into a fish tail banner.  Once dry I sponged a mix of blue/lilac distress inks over the top, spritzed with water then added some turquoise brusho powder mostly around the edges, spritzed again to get a smooth darker tone leaving a lighter area in the middle.  Added more interest with stamped stars and tiny stamped words. The dictionary definition 'wonderful' rubber stamp is a very old wood mounted one which I've stamped onto the white panel and then partly onto the top of the banner so it could overlap.  'You are' is a sep

CAS Wall Flowers

Image
A CAS card for two May challenges  CAS Stencil Challenge  to use layered stencils and  Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge  where I took the top line of Birthday-CAS-Green. I've taken a little eight petal daisy stencil and distress oxide inks sponging four times in all with a different colour, turning the stencil slightly each time so the petals layer over each other.  I used two shades of green (evergreen bough/cracked pistachio) with yellow (squeezed lemonade) and lilac (shaded lilac) and created three flower heads. Next I lightly brushed tattered rose distress ink over a wall stencil fading out the colour to one side, then over-layed a small dotty stencil and with a finger dauber added more of the same ink to give a darker pattern on some of the bricks but still keeping it subtle. Added doodled stems with a black fine liner pen and some random accent dots too.  Stamped a sentiment and adhered three sequins to embellish which catch the light.  Panel mounted on a dark gr

Never Ending card

Image
I've had a pack of Never Ending die-cut card blanks sat on my shelf for far too long and have finally completed my first one, about time too ... although I must admit once all the panels had papers on them I was a bit stuck with how to carry on decorating it so then it just sat looking at me for another couple of weeks! The lovely garden birds paper also has a kingfisher so I finally took that flash of blue as inspiration for some of the die cuts (sentiment, flowers, butterflies, hearts) together with pearlised white for the picket fence & lace edged leaves. The front of the card stands up just like a gatefold card then opens up to a page where I've added a few die cut birds and some embossed butterflies from coloured scraps in my stash. Pictures of the other inside pages And finally I added a vellum sleeve wrap so I can attach a verse on the back and for somewhere to write. I've used - Papermania 14 x 14cm Never End
