Sympathy Card for CAS Mix Up April Challenge

Sadly I've needed two sympathy cards recently, this is one of them.  This month's challenge over at CAS Mix Up is to use bleach to remove colour ... now I've only ever used water before to lift off colour so I thought, okay, let's give actual bleach a go and I was pleasantly surprised with the overall effect.

I started by sponging distress oxide ink onto a piece of white card stock, once dry stamped & heat embossed this lovely dragonfly which has a circular floral design around it & die cut into a decagon shape.  Using a tiny paint brush I applied bleach to the larger flowers first just as a trial, then came back the next day and did the leaves ... some parts are whiter whilst others have pale chalky pink, blue & purple tones.  I did dab the bleach quicker off the leaves than the flowers.

The dragonfly was stamped again onto vellum & cut out, coloured with promarkers on the reverse & adhered by just the body so the wings are free to move.  Sentiment stamped & embossed directly onto the card base.

I've used - A6 white pearlised card base
wilted violet Distress Oxide ink
Really old mag cover mount Spellbinders Garden Collection stamp
Silver pearl & clear EP
Unbranded stitched decagon die
Phill Martin sentiment stamps
VersaColor heliotrope ink
