CAS Stencil October Challenge
This month's CAS Stencil Challenge is to stencil over the top of patterned paper ... okay, yes I admit I have a lot of patterned papers waiting to see the light of day ... took a while to pick what to use but I settled on a subtle rose pattern.
I placed two stencils on my patterned paper at the same time, the heart over the top of the diamonds to combine an open shape with a detailed pattern and applied distress oxide ink. Once that was dry and die cut into a circle the little butterfly stencil was added, one on the patterned paper and one partly on/off onto the card base.

You might just be able to see a pair of border score lines to frame the design, this was achieved by dry embossing two of my square nesting dies directly onto the card base as I felt it looked a little plain otherwise. The same DO colour was used on the sentiment to match the butterflies. Here's a picture of the stencils and inks used.
I've used -
5x5" scalloped edge white card base
Various mag freebie stencils & patterned paper
Distress Oxide inks (shaded lilac/wild honey)
Unbranded stitched circle die
Xcut sentiment die

Lovely card Steph, very pretty soft colours and a cool idea to use two overlayered stencils on the DP (oh yes don't we have lots to choose from) --- thanks for sharing with CAS Stencil, Robyn
ReplyDeleteI love your stenciling over your rose patterned paper, Steph. Wonderful added stenciled butterflies, die cut sentiment and scallop edge of your CAS card design. So pleased you joined us at CAS Stencil. Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Steph! I love the double stencil technique. Clare x
ReplyDeleteGreat use of your Stencils Steph! I cleared out lots of patterned paper but still managed to find some for the theme this month.... The double stencil technique is a perfect example of how to make our stash go further too so a double well done for that! Thanks for joining in with us at CAS Stencil this month. x
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Steph. I love the colours you've stenciled over top (lilac and wild honey) which are opposites on the colour wheel. Those complementary colours always look fabulous together! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Stencil!
ReplyDeletePretty card, lovely effect. Emmax
