Wonky Stripes Birthday

Image
First outing with a new stencil and stamps from Uniko. Love the randomly varied stripes in the stencil design which I've inked blended with green and blue distress oxides as a complete background.  Some water splatters add more interest. I heat embossed with white EP the background blocks pattern stamp, some of the lines were accentuated with a blue coloured pencil.  Sentiments stamped with a deep purple ink pad, cut into strips and mounted with 1mm foam pads.  A couple of small stamps added from another stamp set to complete my design.  You may notice I stamped in threes, if your eye rests on one shape your brain sees the others so you are looking up/down/across the whole design.  Finished panel matted on purple for this generic card. Some glossy accent drops added here and there too I've used -  13.5mm white card base Uniko stencil - Wonky Stripes Uniko stamps - 'Mid Century Modern' Background Blocks & Florals sets; Simply Said Blocks Distress Oxides - mermaid lag

Criss Cross Lattice Card

Image
This was made for my Dad for Father's Day.  Recently I had come across a lot of trellis cards and decided to make a criss cross lattice style one inspired from a YouTube video by  blondecards_n_crafts  which also shows the assemblage process. I used a Funky Fossil stamp set called Waters Edge by Claire Brooking which includes a lovely heron and elements for scene building.  I had seen a heron at our local nature reserve not that long ago stood totally still on a centre platform no doubt eyeing up the fish in the pond.  My heron was placed on the waters edge surrounded by dragonflies underneath a strawberry moon. The top panel and lattice strips were brushed with distress oxide inks in warm colours.  Created more texture using multiple techniques: bokeh circles, water splattering, stenciling and stamping. The open areas of the full moon stencil were inked and embossed with white EP.   Waters edge and heron were coloured with pencils and fussy cut before mounting.  Finished card fitt

Sanntangle ATCs

Image
Recently I took part in an ATC swap with crafty friends on CraftWorld where the theme was florals using green, blue and pink colours.  These are the ATCs I created for my crafty friend swap partner which are a mix of stamps and my own hand drawn tangles, together with the card I made to send with them. The backgrounds were simply created with distress inks spritzed with water on a gelli plate.  My starting point was some of the Sanntangle stamps that came in May's Papercraft Society Box which were stamped in green ink.  I've included a picture to show the stamps I used as I then drew other tangles to extend the designs and create the stems/leaves etc.  Used polychromo pencils to colour and a white gel pen for added highlights.  I love the magenta colour pencil and use that to blend with a lot of other colours. On the front of the card is one of the patterned papers from the Sanntangle box.  One of the larger stamps has been heat embossed with white EP and another patterned pape

We Love Stamping June Challenge CAS - Guest Designer

Image
I was delighted to be invited for a guest designer spot in the June challenge at We Love Stamping .  This card of mine was their top pick back in April.  June's theme is Clean and Simple, a style that does not come without it's challenges!  Everyone will have their own idea of a CAS card, I chose to have one colourful focal image placed on one side, plenty of clear space and no embellishments. I decided to dry emboss with a square die onto a white card panel to give an added subtle border and keep my stamping within that.  Using a couple of texture type stamps in my hand and tumbled glass distress ink I stamped randomly only on the left hand side to create a background.  Next came the elegant floral element stamped and embossed with gold EP.  The spaces inside the two leaves have been water coloured.  Added a few stamped dots with orange ink. On a scrap of white card and using a rainbow inkpad I stamped the vase and fussy cut.  The actual vase stamp was way too tall for my des
