Funky Fossil - Rock Chick

Image
Dance like no one's watching ... but wait, there is ... can you spot a face spying on the dancing chick? I created my own background with inks and a stencil.  I started by brushing shaded lilac distress oxide on a panel of white card stock followed by hickory smoke DO through a dotty circle stencil, simple but so effective.  There are some subtle water flicks there too.  The two main images were stamped, coloured with polychromo pencils and fussy cut before shaping slightly and adhering with a mixture of 1mm foam pads and wet glue.  I added some shadow underneath with a metallic silver pencil. I wanted to add some eyes watching the dancing chick and toyed with the idea of cutting into the door so it would open revealing someone watching from inside.  In the end I opted for something a lot simpler, stamping the face of another rock chick from the set and die cutting into a circle which fitted nicely into the open space of one of the dotty circles.  Mustard coloured matt layer and se

Embossing Puddles Background

Recently I watched a technique video on YouTube  by Julie Hickey called Embossing Puddles - a direct to cardstock variation so had to give it a go.  I dipped into my stash of regular embossing powders some of which I've had for nearly 20 years! I placed random amounts of four different embossing powders onto a piece of black cardstock - you do need to use a good amount for the puddles to form.  Card was placed in between a folded sheet of baking parchment and heated with a heat tool keeping the nozzle very close.  You will be able see the powder melting.  I was very dubious of letting the nozzle touch the baking parchment at first as shown in the video but as long as it is only briefly you won't overheat your tool. I was doing this technique on black so both the yellow and orange embossing powder results came out quite grungy and I thought only suitable for a masculine card so created torn distress edges, simply topped with a die cut sentiment from a scrap of inked card and mou
