Funky Fossil - Thank You!

Image
Just love this colour combination - dark blue & white with lime green!  I decided to cut up two pieces of Shibori patterned paper into triangles to make a patchwork quilt style background mounted on a grey matt... sadly I didn't make a note of what this pattern is called, I found lots to chose from online but can't find this one again. I discovered you have to be very precise in your cutting and my first attempt has a few flaws which of course can be masked with what you place on top.  I chose a quirky rock chick stamp character coloured with promarkers and combined with a die cut word & alphas from a scrap of patterned paper mounted on a vellum band across the middle. I've used - 6x6" white card base Funky Fossil Shibori & Kaleidescope patterned paper pads Funky Fossil Rock Chicks stamp set Promarkers in shades of green Funky Fossil Words & Ransom Note Alpha dies sets Linking up with - Krafty Chicks  #617 ALL OCCASIONS WEEK       ...

Fathers Day Garden Birds

Image
My Dad loves his garden, feeding birds and all things nature so for this year's father's day card I used a new forest glade stencil with stamps from a British garden birds set that came with a magazine several years ago. Distress oxide inks were brushed over the stencil to create a soft backdrop scene, I did use a circle mask too, just slipped that behind the tree branches then removed to add colour for the sun.  With the main stencil in place I added some leaves/flowers in soft grey at the top and bottom.  All the other stamps were cut out, coloured with promarkers and added on top as the main focal points.  Ripe blackberries and seed pods might not be seen just yet but I have noticed the fruits are starting to form when out walking.  I love catching a glimpse of a robin too and I'm sure once swallows have finished nesting we will see them swooping overhead. Sentiment was computer generated using 'A Amne Sans' font and tucked in at the bottom.  Dad did love his...

Julie Hickey Floral Buttons

Another floral make to share, this time I've used the Floral Buttons stamp set from Julie Hickey Designs.  I've loved going back to a simple inked background with strong focal images. Shaded Lilac distress oxide ink was brushed over a fine florals stencil by Funky Fossil to create the soft background which was matted onto purple and orange cardstock to match the colours of the flowers.  The floral buttons were stamped onto watercolour card, coloured with distress inks and easily cut out by hand as the borders are naturally irregular.  Colouring is a favourite technique of mine. There are four different sentiments in the set to suit different occasions which all fit into the little blank frame, I chose Happy Birthday for this make.  The main larger flower was raised up on foam pads whereas all the rest were glued down flat grouped together in an overlapping arrangement. I've used - 6x6" white card base Julie Hickey Floral Buttons stamp set Distress Inks -  wilted...

Funky Fossil - Have a Monstrously Good Day!

Image
Sharing a fun character from Funky Fossil's Motley Crew stamp set with a cookie jar ... cookies make everything better don't they! I drew round the mason jar stencil before repeat stamping the heart (with a bit of masking) to fill the jar colouring the cookies with promarkers.  Once the jar shape was cut out I added some outer lines with a black fine liner.  Decided to cut out a second jar shape from vellum to place over the top to tone down the look as I wanted the monster character to stand out more.  The happy monster has been coloured with distress inks and fussy cut.  Glossy accents added on the red heart he's holding. A sheet of patterned paper from the Kaleidescope pad has been cut horizontally several times with an edges die leaving just a little gap in between when fixed onto the card base to break up the background.  Overstamped with some splats, sentiment stamped and white heat embossed on black all from the same stamp set. I've used - 6x6" white card...
