Quintuple Embossing

Image
I'm very late joining in with this month's  CAS Stencil  challenge, the COVID-19 situation has meant I am busier than ever with work and supporting family who are unable to go out.  This little Easter card started as an experiment in triple heat embossing through a stencil but I ended up embossing five layers on the butterfly's 'eyes' so quintupled! Using a small VersaMark ink pad and glossy cardstock the main butterfly shape was inked then double embossed with silver pearl EP through this stencil which I've had for years.  Using the circles from large to small I inked and heat embossed with yellow, then orange, then red EP so in total five embossed layers for the 'eyes'.  In the background are Woodware stamps using Distress Oxide inks to stamp and colour.  The antenna on the butterfly is not quite how I imagined it though but never mind! I've used - 4x4" white card base Clarity one-sided glossy card Mag covermount stencil Va

Dendritic Acrylic Paint Technique

Image
When I saw March  CAS Mix Up Challenge  was to use acrylic paint I knew exactly that I wanted to revisit the dendritic acrylic paint technique.  It's a fun technique to create branch like tendril patterns by squashing paint between either glass, acrylic blocks or something similar like thick plastic packaging.  The pattern forms once you prise the pieces apart, you then lay card on top, smooth gently to transfer.  Here's a link to a  video  so you can understand the technique more ... I only used a pea sized amount of acrylic paint (unlike in the video). I used storm cloud paint for the two flower heads and buttercup yellow paint for the leaves/vase on black card all die cut from larger pieces with the flower stems and sentiment stamped.  To cheer up the overall look I die cut flower centres and thin strips from bright yellow card with a few added dots to embellish. I've used - A6 cream card base Docrafts Artiste acrylic paint Mag covermount dies Charity sh

Summerhouse Trellis Aperture

Image
Came across a pack of trellis aperture card blanks in my local charity shop so of course I had to buy them.  I've created a summerhouse scene with lots of embellishments ... florals, butterflies and a ginger cat on the outside ... flooring, faux white wood panelling, cushions, wallpaper and a plaque on the inside. Arranged the gifted florals trailing down one side, shaping and overlapping them, then created the inside with patterned papers, various dies/EF.  Here's a couple of desk shots taken showing work in progress. Once the card blank was fixed together, the butterflies, wall plaque and cat were die cut from an inked distress oxide scrap and added as finishing touches.  I made this at the end of last year, left open until I knew who the recipient was going to be, I've now added a big birthday number element to match ... I can finally share on my blog as the celebrations have happened and it's been received by a fellow crafter. I've us
