Brusho Floral Birthday

Image
I'm still experimenting with making Brusho backgrounds, this one I'm happy with as it turned out really delicate.  I have to learn when to stop spritzing with water and leave the ink to do it's magic!  I found the mixed media die locally in The Works and used some of the cut out shapes grouped together in fours to add interest to the adjacent white space. The flowers were created using another purple Brusho scrap underneath the delicate white layer with centre pearls.  Added a few yellow butterflies as a finishing touch and a stamped sentiment. I've used - 5x7 white card blank Creative Expressions coconut white card Brushos - purple & yellow Unbranded mixed media die Crafters Companion Floral Fantasy dies Papermania white adhesive pearls Sue Wilson butterflies die Mag freebie sentiment stamp Playing along at -  Watercooler Wednesday  - 'All about Occasions' challenge Thank you for visiting - I'd love you to leave a commen...

CAS Silhouette Cats

I stumbled upon a new challenge a few weeks ago that really caught my attention based on using stencils and features a new technique each month  CAS Stencil Challenge  and ... I also need more practice making clean and simple cards!  So I planned to try out this month's theme 'Ghosting' which took several attempts to end up with something I was happy to use on a card. My original idea started with a Turn Ahead road sign stencil and a car stamp but it just wasn't working so I 'parked' that idea and went for plan B.  Just as well I did as I later spotted in the challenge gallery Robyn's DT card used those very items!  Spooky, two crafters with the same idea! But now on to my finished card ... instead of using one of my existing stencils I used a die cut stencil sheet and made my own from an intertwining circles die.  The cardstock that worked best for me was Clarity's stencils matte card sponged with distress oxides, left to dry only for a short wh...

CAS Happy Easter

Image
Loved the layout for the current  Freshly Made Sketches  #379 challenge and thought I would combine two challenges in one with our CAS spots & dots challenge with friends/members over on docrafts . Thinking outside the box the rabbits have replaced one of the circles in the sketch and they are cut from a scrap of spots patterned paper with an offset shadow.  The grassy strip has dots from a snowfall drift EF and I've chosen non traditional Easter colours too. I've used - A6 card base cut from Crafter's Companion ivory pearl cardstock First Edition Woodland Themed dies (rabbit) Gemini Snowfall Drift EF Apple Blossom sentiment stamp Unbranded stitched & circle burst dies Playing along at - Freshly Made Sketches  #379 challenge Thank you for visiting - I'd love you to leave a comment if you have time -  Steph x

Mother's Day Heart

Image
I was trying out a new-to-me technique with my Distress Oxides inks on glossy cardstock and love the vibrant shiny result achieved by wiping over with a moist wet wipe after the inks were smooched and dry.  This year's Mother's Day card was the result. I tried this technique on Clarity glossy chromo card with squeezed lemonade & picked raspberry DO's then stamped a beautiful floral heart on top embossing with white EP.  To bring out the flowers more I painted them with picked raspberry.  The layout was from a sketch challenge with friends/members over on docrafts . I'm so pleased the three parchment flowers are finally on a card as I made them years and years ago when I was going to parchment evening classes!  Sentiment just stamped on vellum and wrapped around the bottom. I've used - 6x6 white card blank Tonic twisted twine border die Clarity glossy chromo card Distress Oxides Mag freebie Floral Mehndi heart stamp Judikins opaque white EP ...
