Julie Hickey Floral Frames

Image
Revisited an older stamp set by Julie Hickey as I realised I've only used it once before  here .  The set has six separate small floral frames and so far I've only used three of them. For these two cards I started by scoring a grid on my panel toppers before stamping as it gives an interesting effect.  Next came a curved painterly effect stamp in the background with green/yellow ink before repeat stamping by rotating one of the floral frames in black to create a larger design. This card features a floral frame that when repeat stamped and rotated it creates one larger flower.  Petals coloured with metallic pencils in the same tones as the paper pad used for the die cut sentiment and side scallop borders.  Glitter gel pen on the centre.  Somehow ended up with a water mark on the bottom right square so covered up with another (nearly matching) square but decided not to add score lines or colour the petals.  Raise with foam pads.  Of course the heart covers a little mark too! Happy Bird-day

A fun share today, first outing with a couple of new stamp sets, couldn't decide which to use first so gave one character from each a share in the spotlight. For the background two shades of distress inks were brushed through a lovely floral stencil keeping it darker around the edges.  Re-visited the curtain fold technique to use up some patterned paper adding a die cut heart border on top for the happy monster to perch on.  It's so cute that he's got a tiny cat tucked in his pocket though the cat's expression is a little scared don't you think!  The heart balloon is also from the monster set. All the main stamps have been fussy cut, coloured with alcohol markers and adhered with a mixture of foam pads and wet glue.  The cute chick is keeping her birthday cake safe, not sure what she is thinking but looking a little shy maybe. Gone Fishing

Image
Birthday card made for a family member who used to go fishing.  Had to did out a very old stamp set for these images which are small in size so repeat stamping was the way to go. Started with a piece of watercolour paper and using watered down distress inks stamped some distress elements stamps in a random pattern to create a water effect background.  Next came some of the fishing stamps around the edges using grey ink.  The prominent fishing rod was stamped in black which does have a tiddler fish on the end of the line so decided to stamp, colour and cut out the larger fish to add over the top.  The bag in the stamp set could pass as a tackle bag I thought so this was also stamped, coloured and fussy cut. Added a die cut sentiment, two arrows to give movement and some 'pebbles'.  Panel mounted on a faux torn edge matt using a new edges die.
