Hello, Friend

Watched a lovely demo by Toni Darroch (Stamps by Me) on her How To Craft YouTube channel recently which inspired me to make this card.  Such an easy technique to try and a really lovely effect.  I did use my paper trimmer which has a score wheel as I found scoring by hand with a ball tool on a score board made the channels too wide and didn't look as neat. After scoring a square grid on some white card I stamped these much loved forest friends silhouette style stamps in black ink.  I go back to this set time and time again, apart from this cute squirrel there is a badger, fox, hare/rabbit as well as toadstools, mushroom & flowers. In Toni's demo she cut a stencil from another piece of card stock for the background inking, I found that to be too thick so used a piece of die cut stencil sheet instead as much thinner.  You only need a right angle mask to brush the ink upwards on one corner of selected grid squares so copy paper is another good alternative. Spread Your Wings

A venture into mixed media with texture paste - my background originally looked a mess, so I thought, and was destined for the bin but I persevered.  Now I've lived with the finished card for a few days I have grown to like it mainly because I've covered up some bad areas with the frame/die cuts and the bright accent colour really pops! Reminds me of Spring - green leaves appearing on the trees, golden sunshine and birds busy building their nests. I didn't take any photos during my messy background process but started with a white piece of ordinary cardstock and in this order - randomly stuck down strips/left over die cut patterned paper ran through my Big Shot with a birthday words stencil for an embedded embossed look sponged all over with cracked pistachio DO brushed over with watered down gesso sponged on evergreen bough DO and crushed olive DI added texture paste through a dotty circles stencil, heat embossed with gold EP The texture paste dried so quickly not many are

Happy Easter

My set of Easter cards incorporates stamping from a stamp set that I was lucky to win in a giveaway draw this year.  Stampin' Up! Work of Art might be an old set but one I love as the stamps have a painterly brushstroke look to them.  Great for repeat stamping to create images.  These designs were inspired in my search through Pinterest.  Wish I'd made more bunches of tulips but for some reason I was thinking more of Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies! Large Easter eggs repeat stamped in bands of different colours onto oval die cuts and inlaid back into the apertures.  Large chevron egg stamped through an oval aperture directly onto the panel.  Small chevron eggs die cut from a stamped panel. Added stamped bunnies, flowers, tiny butterflies and eggs with sentiments embossed in gold on vellum.  Die cut boxes from patterned papers, pretty cut work oval eggs and a bow to tie the three flowers together.
