Time for tea ... Tea Party

Image
Ah I do love a cup of tea but rarely use a teacup as mugs hold more tea!  I do like the look of pretty teacups though so when I saw  The Paper Players  current challenge theme was  Tea Party  I got out this dainty teacup die to use as it's got a lovely open cut floral design. To stop all the little "itsy bitsy" pieces falling out from the die I used an adhesive pearlised textured sheet on lightweight card first then cut them again in coloured card which was mounted on top so the design shows through white and you get a smooth surface teacup and no chips!  One cup was able to be stacked inside another as the teacup has a natural slit in the top.  The "tablecloth" has been embossed with a small art deco style rose design.  All that's missing is some lovely mouthwatering cake ... now why didn't I think to add some ...   I've used -  top fold 5x5 scalloped edge card base Patterned papers: pink Hunkydory, striped Docrafts All separate

Hello Woodland Squirrels

This lovely salmon/coral coloured pearlescent card base has been in my stash for absolutely ages just waiting to be used but had to use a die and create an aperture to remove the tuck and fold design as that part was sadly a bit dog-eared.  Anyone remember those Lacé style tuck and fold cards?  The aperture was backed with an ombré inked panel and die cut tree trunks overlaid for a woodland sunset scene complete with squirrels. I chose some warm distress ink colours to compliment the card base inking over torn paper for the hills.  Tree trunks were cut twice, a white layer behind for highlights.  Here's a close up view of my ombré inked aperture panel. We come across many grey squirrels on our dog walks so added a pair holding some alphabet beads saying HELLO strung with thin gold beading wire.  Decided to "ground" the squirrels with some florist ribbon tucked under their feet. I've used -  15x10.5cm pearlescent card base Squirrel from First Edition Woodla
