Final Christmas Cards

Just a quick post to share the last 6 cards I made for the A-Z Daily Christmas Challenge with fellow crafters over on docrafts.  Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!

Z is for Zentangle dangles - everything I’ve hand drawn except for ‘December 25’ which are stamps, coloured with promarkers (gold/purple/lime green) on a 13.5 cm sq white card base.  I've even included the little town of Bethlehem with a star above.

V is for Vintage - A6 cream card base with purple matts, overstamped in silver EP on patterned paper that is as near vintage as I could get with a poinsettia stamp from See-D’s Traditional Christmas set coloured with purple promarker, mag freebie ‘Let it Snow’ snowflake frame stamp.

 W is for Winter Wishes - Quick A6 card using Xcut Winter Wishes cut & emboss folder with cream metallic linen cardstock backed with Pippinwood animals & snowman image.

X is for Xmas - A6 white card base, mag freebie entwined holly EF, Penny Black mouse stamp having fun on a lamppost from the Jolly Follies set coloured with promarkers, frosted lace stickles, peel off ‘Merry Xmas’ sentiment.

 Y is for Yippee ...! - A6 white card base tent fold, happy Penny Black mice & sleigh stamp from the Jolly Follies set coloured with promarkers, unbranded stitched scalloped edge die, mag freebie tartan paper & sentiment stamp.

 U is for Unopened Gift - 13.5 cm sq white card base, mag freebie papers over stamped with Papermania gifted greetings stamp in silver EP, stamped gift added in bottom corner.

CAS Christmas Challenge - Guest Designer Card

Excited to be sharing my guest designer card for September's  CAS Christmas  card challenge where this month's theme is Christmas Tree.  I was their winning card in July, you can see it  here . I reached for my all time favourite Christmas tree stamp from an enchanted Christmas set by Hot off the Press.  A solid stamp with a lovely flourish design and snowflakes as part of the tree itself.  First I heat embossed the tree with white EP then positioned a circle stencil partly over so I could dab using cling film some pearl effects before sponging with distress inks to create a snowy sky backdrop.  Both the tree and pearl effects act as a resist and buff up to a lovely shine. I've ended up with a contemporary colour palette with an emphasis on lighter shades of purple with touches of blue and turquoise as the three DIs were still out on my desk from a previous project so I just went with them.  Finishing touches are three stamped and embossed snowflakes with coloured dot centr

I Spy With My Little Eye ... Guest Designer

So lovely to be invited by Ellie from Simply Ellibelle's blog as guest designer for challenge 14 of " I spy with my little eye.... something with wings " selected by Pauline.  A fabulous theme with so many possibilities ... I chose to ink up this wonderful large scale owl with draft lines and geometric styling and created a spotlight die-cutting technique. Owl stamped and heat embossed with clear EP then die cut part of the image into a circle.  To make the background, two different distress inks (one green, one blue) were smooched onto the remaining panel.  I did some light stencilling in areas, blue ink for the hex matrix pattern, white ink for the circles with iridescent mica pigment powder so they catch the light.  Finally some over stamping in smoke blue ink (which looks more light grey) for the doodle patterns and additional words (spread your wings, soar, fly).  Die cut circle has another layer underneath so it's slightly raised and left uncoloured.  Die cut &a

Color Hues Guest Designer

Very excited to share my guest designer card for the new challenge at  Color Hues  with a lovely soft palette of cream and blue.  You can see my winning card  here .  I was aiming for a cream and blue ceramic look.  I wonder who has left their boots behind in the garden? Hope their kite stays flying long enough for them to return ...        Having bought some new Card-io stamp sets at a local craft fair recently I was keen to create with them alongside other sets I already had.  Made a cream background on my Gelli plate with acrylic paint keeping some white areas for interest.  Stamped all the separate images in blue ink using a stamping platform for either a lighter or darker hue.  Stamped and heat embossed a few white clouds in the sky.  Bushed in some added blue lines for contrast. The central part of the scene was cut out with a decagon (10 sided) die, used a neutral matt layer behind before matching it back up over the panel.  Final panel finished with another neutral layer.  Whit
