For You Floral Cards

Image
Having seen the latest challenge over at Just Add Ink #419...Just Add A "Twist" to "use something in a way that it wasn't intended" got me really thinking then I remembered a craft magazine article I had bookmarked to try.  These two small floral cards were the result. The article used low tack tape but who hasn't got a little-used pile of peel offs in their crafty stash - they work just as well!  I also didn't want to spend time cutting tape into strips either.  My background was created on watercolour card, adding brusho paints, spritzing with water, once dry removing the peel offs to reveal the white geometric pattern. After die cutting the decagon shape I made my own card bases with a top fold - overall size approx. 4".  I added a small die cut floral cluster and mini sentiment choosing colours in red and yellow as we're still enjoying lovely hot weather and that tied in with another challenge over on docrafts too. I've

Shadow Box Balloon Scene Card

Image
There seems to be lots of different styles of shadow box cards out there but I decided to make this particular design as it seemed easy enough and it folds flat for posting.  I had two challenges in mind firstly  The Male Room Challenge  and then a sketch challenge with friends/members over on the docrafts gallery so I combined them both. The finished card size was 7x5, scored on both short sides at ½" and 1" to achieve the box shape with a circle aperture.  The centre panels were embossed with a lovely scenescape, coloured the debossed channels with Tea Green and Buttercup promarkers and cut into squares leaving a small gap to allow the lovely blue base colour to show through. A section of map patterned paper finishes off the inside with a stamped balloon brightly coloured with Poppy, True Blue and Buttercup promarkers.  I used the same map paper for the Happy Birthday signpost stamp.  As the  Male Room Challenge  was to include an unexpected item I dug

Hello ... Summer Parasol

Image
Must admit I'm not a fan of this prolonged heatwave we're having would just like it to be a little cooler so I decided to call my umbrella a parasol.  This card combines two challenges, a CAS one with friends/members on the docraft gallery where the brief was one image, ribbon & red and the current sketch from  Just Add Ink . I've tried for the first time to just emboss with a die and I love the result then two sides of the decagon were slit so the ribbon could be passed through behind.  The parasol was created using lots of different dies (stitched circle, scalloped edge, letter 'J' for the handle) from a piece of brusho watercolour paper and decorated with teeny flowers.  Hope everyone is managing to stay cool unless you live on the opposite side of the world where it's winter! I've used - A6 cream card base tent fold Various unbranded dies Brillant Red Brusho First Edition Modern Alphabet die 'J' docrafts 'Hello' se

Veggie Wheelbarrow Birthday

Image
This fun card came about from a sketch challenge I took part in with some fellow docrafters, the theme was food and/or drink.  At first I was really stumped as the sketch had so many layers and elements but once I got my head around that and decided to go with mainly vegetables I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Seed Packets were stamped with brown ink on a panel of kraft card and just the vegetables highlighted with colouring pencils.  My focal image was going to be the wheelbarrow and I've cut around one of the handles to leave that outside the main topper square to add interest.  Promarkers were used to colour the wheelbarrow, cabbages, carrots, leeks, flower pot and eggs.  It was then quite straight forward to cut a slit in the top of the wheelbarrow and on the flower pot so the veggies could be slotted in and arranged. Used some self adhesive magic mesh for one of the layers so as not to cover up all of those fun birds (chickens maybe?!) on the patterned pap
