Gliding by to say hi! - MMM Challenge # 69 In The Garden

Image
This card has an inlaid die cutting technique using circles which I discovered on Pinterest recently and wanted to give it a try.  I like the effect and the card is also flat for posting.  The current challenge theme over at  Make My Monday  is  In the Garden so my garden mouse buggy riding a snail is perfect with dancing butterflies joining in.  As snails glide along I used an apt sentiment ‘Gliding by to say hi!’ Into the patterned paper I die cut the top circle first then a second overlapping circle below to create an aperture.  After stamping the mouse/snail and butterflies on textured linen cardstock I die cut them in exactly the same way and inlaid them back into the aperture.  I've kept to a muted colour palette with my stamped images to tone in with the patterned paper. I've used -   5x5 scalloped edge top fold card base Patterned paper from a magazine Penny Black stamps from a critter party set Promarkers - Cool Aqua, Tea Green, Blush Unbranded stitche

Floral Birthday Wishes

Image
I wanted to try an Eclipse style card as I've seen so many fellow crafters over on the docrafts site making them and the effect is just wonderful.  In the absence of any large alphabet dies in my stash I chose a Birthday Wishes sentiment die to use instead.  Started off by stamping my floral design and cutting a pretty stitched scallop edge underneath to create a top panel before tackling the sentiment. I ended up cutting the sentiment out five times, firstly it was die cut out of the floral panel, then there are three in purple glued underneath the top white one which I decided stands out better than the original stamped one which I'll keep and use on another card.  I like how the sentiment is raised up over the flowers with just a hint of purple shadow.  Not a real Eclipse card but in the style of. The dragonfly is stamped, embossed, die cut then coloured with promarkers with added glossy accents before adhering to the card just under it's body.  Here's a clo

Seaplane for Dad - MMM Challenge # 68 Things with Wings

Image
I've taken a different take on "Things with Wings" theme from the current  Make My Monday Challenge  and made an early Fathers Day card for my Dad using a seaplane stamp. This lovely seaplane was another of the stamps in issue 54 of Creative Stamping Magazine – this time the card design is mine.  I used blue brusho crystals and made a watercolour wash background, I'm no expert water colourist so hope this passes as realistic sky/sea.  The DAD letters were die cut out of the circle to show the blue behind, added stamped cloud/sun and a dotty textured background.  The seaplane is coloured with promarkers and mounted with thin foam pads. So this is my entry for the  Make My Monday Challenge  a man made mechanical seaplane which has wings! Musical Crossword ... Paper Players #387 Musical Challenge

Image
Set myself an additional challenge this week to combine a crossword stamp into the current  Paper Players #387 Musical Challenge  ... easy really just write the names of some instruments into the squares!  I also wanted to try the Retiform (grid) inking technique again and this is the end result. The crossword stamp was inked and embossed first before sponging distress ink along the edges of my paper masks to create several shaped areas into which I stamped musical instruments and notes using grey and black inks.  Finished off with an apt "Just a note to say ... " sentiment. I've used -  5x7 card base Scattered Straw DI on Claritystamp Theuva card Papermania Musical Instruments stamp set Papermania Mr Mister Crossword stamp Hobbycraft sentiment stamp Magazine musical notes stamp Thank you for visiting - I'd love you to leave a comment if you have time -  Steph x

On the Road Motorbike Birthday

Image
Needed a male card in a hurry, like we do sometimes, so followed Kim Dellow’s step by step in issue 54 of Creative Stamping magazine … the card design/layout is hers ... I used a different sentiment, added an arrow and it took me longer than the 40 minutes suggested!  Nothing new there! Tyre track sponged over with distress ink in a resist technique for the background panel before mounting motorbike, map & more tyre tracks on top.  It did the job and the whole stamp set is going to come in very useful both for those men and travel theme cards too.  I've already used the bicycle from the set for a CAS card which you can see  here . I've used -  5x7 tent fold card base;  All stamps from the magazine; White EP; Tumbled Glass DI; P romarkers Thank you for visiting - I'd love you to leave a comment if you have time -  Steph x
