Distress Ink Background & Silhouette Stamping

Image
Made it my mission this week to create a card for  Make My Monday Challenge #65  - Messy Backgrounds and here it is.  Yeah a challenge entry done and dusted!  Decided to use my good old faithful distress inks and chose some brighter colours (worn lipstick, ripe persimmon, crushed olive & scattered straw) firstly to brush onto some white card then inked through part of a mask and randomly stamped in places too - a bit of everything really. Love the look of black silhouettes so stamps were added with Versafine onyx black ink, heat embossed with clear EP for that shine effect (though sadly I haven't captured any shine in the photo).  My finishing touch was a freebie Birthday Wishes sentiment stamp, die cut from a spare piece of the same inked background.  Decided on a yellow matt for mounting to keep the same colour theme.   I've used - 5x7 card blank; Clarity stencil matte card; Distress Inks;  Lindsay Mason Hope Blooms stamp set;  G...

Rose Elegance - Enjoy your Day

Image
On Issue 3 of Love Cardmaking magazine was a free cover mount of lovely stamps, dies & embossing folder called Rose Elegance from which I've created this floral card.  I also rediscovered in my stash some shaving foam backgrounds I’d made ages ago, one was just perfect to use. The embossing folder has lovely fine detailed lines, didn't want to cover too much of the design up so just placed the die cut rose to one side and the sentiment on the other to balance.  The embossing folder has a dividing space just right for some ribbon but I decided to place a strip from my shaving foam background instead.  The rose has a black offset shadow just to give it some lift. I've used -  13.5 cm sq card base;  white metallic linen card stock mounted on a black layer These are the rediscovered shaving foam backgrounds ... I seem to remember I used some old Pergamano paint/inks (kept from my parchment days) dropped on the shaving foam with textured card ......

With Love 2 U - Valentine Birds

Image
Found a set of bird clear stamps in The Works recently so chose a couple of them to feature on my Valentine card to OH this year along with some die cuts I received as a lovely gift from a fellow crafter ... this is what I came up with. Decided to colour the birds in turquoise and tulip yellow promarkers so they stood out against the red heart.  The Love die cut sentiment has a black off-set shadow layer and peel offs.  Added two red metallic confetti hearts, some random curved strips in turquoise and two little rub on transfers to finish. I've used: 5x7 white card base; grey linen card stock in pearl cut with unbranded stitched rectangle dies; The Works clear bird stamps; gifted die cuts Thank you for visiting - I'd love you to leave a comment if you have time -  Steph x

Thank You Card with Quilling

Image
I've seriously neglected quilling of late so this year I'm determined to quill more often even if it's only to add small embellishments which is what I've achieved on this Thank You card.  Used quilling strips in purple and green to edge the leaf topper, quilled a couple of multi-coloured scrolls and a butterfly.  ChrisLee over on docrafts inspires me everytime she posts a new creation with her quilling, here's a link to her gallery:  ChrisLee docrafts gallery  it's really worth a look. The sentiment stamp I've used is really sweet as it includes flowers as well.  I've also extended a stitched rectangle die to create the square matt layer. I've used:  13.5 cm card base, patterned paper - The Works, unbranded stitched rectangle die, Xcut Leaves nesting die, mag cover mount sentiment stamp, Promarkers Thank you for visiting - I'd love you to leave a comment if you have time - Steph x
