Christmas Cards x 3

Just thought I would share three more Christmas cards made recently for the A-Z Daily Christmas Challenge over on the docrafts gallery ... G for Galaxy ... I for Ice Skating/Icicles ... J for Jar.

G for Galaxy ...had fun with some distress inks (tumbled glass, worn lipstick, dusty concord & stormy sky on Clarity stamping card) and created a galaxy sky with stencilled stars & moon …  landscape dies cut from adhesive glitter sheet and added a large die cut 'O Holy Night' sentiment.


I for Ice Skating/Icicles ... followed a sketch for the layout and used patterned papers, added die cut bird on ice skates which I coloured with promarkers; grass die cut from adhesive glitter sheet and turned upside down for hanging icicles.


J for Jar ... had this graduated coloured card blank in my stash for ages so used a snowflake frame EF on top with jar stamp & die set and some foliage die cut from silver card & pink vellum; NOEL die cut placed inside the jar with silver braid to finish.

CAS Christmas Challenge - Guest Designer Card

Excited to be sharing my guest designer card for September's  CAS Christmas  card challenge where this month's theme is Christmas Tree.  I was their winning card in July, you can see it  here . I reached for my all time favourite Christmas tree stamp from an enchanted Christmas set by Hot off the Press.  A solid stamp with a lovely flourish design and snowflakes as part of the tree itself.  First I heat embossed the tree with white EP then positioned a circle stencil partly over so I could dab using cling film some pearl effects before sponging with distress inks to create a snowy sky backdrop.  Both the tree and pearl effects act as a resist and buff up to a lovely shine. I've ended up with a contemporary colour palette with an emphasis on lighter shades of purple with touches of blue and turquoise as the three DIs were still out on my desk from a previous project so I just went with them.  Finishing touches are three stamped and embossed snowflakes with coloured dot centr

Color Hues Guest Designer

Very excited to share my guest designer card for the new challenge at  Color Hues  with a lovely soft palette of cream and blue.  You can see my winning card  here .  I was aiming for a cream and blue ceramic look.  I wonder who has left their boots behind in the garden? Hope their kite stays flying long enough for them to return ...        Having bought some new Card-io stamp sets at a local craft fair recently I was keen to create with them alongside other sets I already had.  Made a cream background on my Gelli plate with acrylic paint keeping some white areas for interest.  Stamped all the separate images in blue ink using a stamping platform for either a lighter or darker hue.  Stamped and heat embossed a few white clouds in the sky.  Bushed in some added blue lines for contrast. The central part of the scene was cut out with a decagon (10 sided) die, used a neutral matt layer behind before matching it back up over the panel.  Final panel finished with another neutral layer.  Whit

Let it Snow

Crafting has been a bit hit and miss for me of late as family life has just got in the way but at last a Christmas card made for two challenges, a late entry for  September's CAS Mix Up  and a new colour challenge that has caught my interest called  Color Hues . I masked off a panel on the front of my card base and blended a mix of blue inks to create an ombre effect from turquoise to navy with a few splatters of water to add interest and lift some of the ink.  I've not embossed with dies very much so had to hunt where I had written down the sandwich for my Big Shot!  I'd forgotten how little pressure was needed to get a lovely embossed impression.  I chose a few snowflake dies and positioned them partly on/off my inked panel to widen the overall design then stamped the gorgeous sentiment at the bottom (I do love this flowing font) and a few falling little snowflakes all in navy blue.
